HOLLAND PARK MEWS HOUSE

The Mews lies within the Ladbroke Conservation Area. The Terrace Mews sits within a non-uniform row of mews houses and is much smaller than the neighbouring properties. Therefore, it was essential to bring continuity back to the streetscape.

The most notable addition to the property is the new mansard roof, providing a whole new floor level. The design remains sensitive to the existing context and materials palette to stay in touch with the street's historical appearance. To the rear of the property, we enlarged the opening to increase the amount of natural light. The garden will also be landscaped to provide additional entertaining space for the clients.

The proposal puts sustainability at the forefront of its design, using reclaimed materials wherever possible, improving insulation and double glazing to bring the building up to contemporary environmental standards.

Craft and textiles will become a feature in the interior, drawing upon the historical context.
